Project Description
Most evenings start the same way. The fridge is open, the shopping is in it, and nothing looks like dinner. WhatToCook: AI Pantry Recipes is the Android app for that moment: it starts from the food you already bought, not from a recipe that sends you back to the shop.
Typing a pantry by hand is the step people give up on, so the app mostly reads instead. Photograph the grocery receipt and the items land in your pantry. Point the camera at a shelf or into the fridge and it recognises the products. You can still type, or pick from a catalog.
Staples are kept apart, the flour and rice and spices that rarely change, so you add them once. Recipes are built around the whole pantry. Each card shows how closely it matches what you have and names anything missing, fresh basil, say. Favourites and scan history stay in the account between shops.
Under the hood it is an Expo app on React Native 0.88 talking to the same Next.js API as whattocook.site. Scanning and recipe writing run on the server through Claude Vision, which means the phone and the website see one pantry. Sign-in is Google or email, and the account with its data can be deleted from Settings.
